Technology Lending Service


Evans Library has a variety of technology devices available for lending to current Florida Tech students, faculty, and staff. Please stop by the iDesk for more information or to borrow the items below. 

Prototyping and Development

  • Arduino, Red Board (3 Weeks) Arduino is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple microcontroller board, and a development environment for writing software for the board. The RedBoard looks and acts just like an Arduino Uno, but is slightly modified.  Getting started, projects, and support are available from arduino and sparkfun.
  • Arduino Starter Kit Basic, Megakit2560 Project (3 Weeks)-  User Guide and Tutorials.
  • BeagleBone Black (3 Weeks) Credit-card sized, low-power, open-hardware computers with a quick-start community-supported development platform that runs Ubuntu, Linux and Android. Tutorials, Projects, and support are available from Beagle Bone.
  • Raspberry Pi (3 Weeks) The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. It is a capable little computer which can be used in electronics projects, and for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games.  Software downloads,  and turorials are available from Raspberry Pi.  Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB RAM) and older models, Raspberry Pi 1A  and 1B+ available. You will need to configure the Raspberry Pi to connect to WiFi via Eduroam.

Virtual Reality

  • Oculus Go (72 Hours) Fully portable, cordless Virtual Reality Headset with touch controller for viewing and interacting with immersive environments. For information about developing content in VR go to the Oculus website and visit the Digital Scholarship Lap (DSL).
  • Oculus Rift  (72 Hours) Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset. It provides true stereoscopic 3D visuals and utilizes head tracking technology for a highly immersive experience.   • Simple Google Goggles (24 Hours) Simple DIY Google virtual reality 3D goggles for smartphones. Experience virtual reality on your phone with Google Cardboard. Cardboard’s apps take you to new virtual worlds. Play immersive games, visit new worlds or even watch art take shape in front of you.

  • Presentation Mouse (24 Hours) Wireless laser pointer. Allows you to control your presentation from up to 30ft away.
  • Video Projector (24 Hours) Small portable projectors that connect via HDMI or VGA to your computer. CAUTION! This unit is not meant for prolonged, sustained use. Prolonged use for video projection will cause the unit to overheat. Two projectors available that connect via Bluetooth.
  • Logitech C920 Webcam (48 Hours) Desktop or laptop webcam plugs into a USB port.
